Dear Parents,
Happy 2017! It is a new year and our preschoolers are excited to get back to the business of learning! This week we did a brief unit called 'Kid's Choice'. We put out our most popular toys and activities. It made for a nice transition back after break. Next week we will start a Mo Willems author study, kicking off with the book Knuffle Bunny. This cautionary tale reminds up to always double check if we have our most beloved stuffy with us before leaving somewhere, especially the laundromat! Check out the curriculum highlights below: Dramatic Play: Laundromat Sand Table: Clean mud Math: Knuffle Bunny Math Game (simple addition using dice) Literacy: Journal entry: do you have a favorite stuffed animal? Building Rug: Challenge: Can you build a skyscraper? IMPORTANT NEWS AND REMINDERS: 1. We have music with Hugh Hanley on Wednesday 1/11 at 11:30am. If this is a day your child does not come to school please feel free to join us. 2. Newton Public Schools will be closed on Monday, January 16th in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. 3. Attached is a flyer for a Kindergarten Information Night hosted by Newton Public Schools. We have also put a paper copy in your child's cubby. The website has been updated with recent pics so be sure to check them out. Let us know if you have any questions and have a great weekend! Best, Lauren and Rachel
